Hana Financial Cultivates Fintech Talent for Digital Innovation
Hana Financial Group kicked off its fintech talent development program, “Hana Digital Power On,” on Monday, aiming to boost digital innovation in the financial sector.
Now in its third year, the program aims to train young talents to develop technology solutions for the financial sector. This year, the financial services provider proposed the slogan “Keep Calm and Hana Digital Power On” to encourage program participants.
Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Bok-hyun, Future For Youth Foundation Chairman Lee Hoon-kyu, British Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks, SK Telecom Vice Chairman Kang Se-won and Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo attended the event, along with 78 program participants divided into 20 teams.
“The key competitiveness of digital financing lies in securing talented individuals. Companies are highly dependent on talent,” Ham said at an event celebrating the program’s opening at the company’s headquarters in Seoul.
“I am committed to doing everything I can to help the participants become future digital talents, in the hope of meeting them again as Hana Financial Group families capable of leading the future of the company.”
“The ‘Digital Power On’ program has proven that innovative ideas combined with an exceptional educational environment can produce an outcome that surpasses previous generations,” said Lee, head of the FSC. “I hope that Hana Financial can develop talent in the digital finance industry through its investments.”
The ceremony was followed by a competition that required participants to use new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing and big data.
The final selected contenders will undergo software training provided by Hana Financial Group. They will also participate in a hackathon event hosted by SK Telecom and develop prototypes of their ideas.
The final winners of the program will receive a total prize of 30 million won ($21,700), while the top three teams will have the chance to visit a global IT company.
