How Thousands of Americans Got Trapped by the False Promises of FinTech and Lost Access to Bank Accounts
When Natasha Craft first received a Iotta bank account in 2021, she liked using it so much that she asked her friends to sign up.
The app made saving money fun and easy, and Craft, now 25, Fedex A driver from Mishawaka, Indiana, was busy getting her financial life in order and planning a wedding. Craft had her paycheck deposited directly into a Yotta account and used the startup’s debit card to pay all her expenses.
The app, which gamifies personal finance with weekly draws and other nifty features, occasionally covered up some of her transactions, too.
“There have been times where I’ve gone to buy something and gotten the purchase for free,” Craft told CNBC.
