Money20/20 Asia in Bangkok concludes three days of networking, conversations and fintech deals.

Bangkok, Thailand, April 20, 2024- Money20/20the world’s leading fintech trade show and the place where money makes business, concluded three groundbreaking days of impactful fintech conversations, networking and industry evenings from 23 to 25 April at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The show welcomed more than 3000 participants and more than 200 journalists. Participants traveled from 87 countries, including 24 APAC countries. Over 250 industry-leading speakers from across Asia shared four incredible stages. 45% of the speakers were female fintech executives and leaders, and over 60% of all speakers were at the executive level.

Artificial intelligence, cross-border payments, open banking, digital assets, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and financial inclusion were the hot topics on stage. KASIKORNBANK, one of Thailand’s largest commercial banks, announced an instrumental partnership with JP Morgan at the Money20/20 Asia press lunch held on April 23. The joint Project Carina initiative leverages decentralized blockchain and web3 technologies to transform cross-border payments that significantly reduce processing time from 72 hours to just five minutes.

Key APAC regulators also played a central role in phasing discussions. 20 of the 189 sessions included Asian regulators or fintechs and financial institutions addressing the latest trends and impact of regulatory technology.

In a session led by SC Malaysia’s Dr. Wong, Malaysia’s fintech journey into the capital markets was explored. The focus was on promoting innovation while ensuring investor protection.

From the beginning, we have embraced a collaborative ethos, recognizing the power of synergy between citizens, state and industry. Our commitment goes beyond simple technological progress; it’s about leveraging technology to achieve our purpose, whether that’s democratizing access to finance or advancing social goals,” Dr Wong said.

Security, mobile identity and fraud prevention in the age of artificial intelligence couldn’t be more important and was discussed in several sessions during the show.

SHIELD Founder and CEO Justin Lie highlighted the importance of trust and multi-stakeholder collaboration in fighting fraud in the digital age in the session Trust Tech, Empower Lives: Redefining Financial Inclusion in the AI ​​Age. SHIELD also hosted the Trust Summit together with Money20/20 Asia sharing the common goal of fraud prevention.

“Although we have been fighting fraud for more than 15 years, revealing every day the power of trust as a vital component, it has taken us this long to recognize that our mission goes beyond simply preventing fraud.
