One of Washington’s leading cryptopolitics academics opens disclosure firm Bluprynt

DC Fintech Week founder Christopher Brummer is putting his experience in regulatory policy to work as CEO of a new company, Bluprynt.

Law professor at Georgetown Christopher Brummer hosts an annual event on emerging financial technology in Washington that has become a major forum for cryptocurrency-related issues in recent years. Now he is joining the industry, founding Bluprynt to help the industry with its regulatory information as rules begin to emerge around the world.
After an initial round of funding of $1.7 million, Brummer said the company is backed by Dan Schulman, former CEO of PayPal; Jules Kroll, the founder of Kroll Inc.; Robinhood Inc. and others. Bluprynt intends to offer what it described as “quality, industry-grade dissemination solutions for digital assets and services.”
“Transparency is the driver of liquidity in the industry,” Brummer said in a statement. “Without it, mainstream adoption, deep institutional involvement, and government licensing will prove elusive.”
The company enters the cryptocurrency fray as European and Asian jurisdictions have made progress with rules, but the United States remains well behind, still working on legislation to regulate the digital asset sector – and its future disclosure requirements.
Brummer is the founder of the popular DC Fintech Week, an annual political event that has placed increasing attention on issues related to cryptocurrencies, blockchain and artificial intelligence in recent years. He told CoinDesk that he intends to maintain his role as professor and conference organizer.
