Ripple grants $1 million to Morgan State for fintech research
Morgan State University has received a $1 million grant from Ripple to contribute to a comprehensive FinTech research and education program. The $1,050,000 grant’s three-year completion goal is to renovate and modernize the university’s National FinTech Center, providing additional innovative capacity and effectively preparing students for a rapidly evolving FinTech environment.
THE collaboration between Morgan, Ripple and the University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has existed since 2019 and has grown the domain of blockchain, cryptocurrency and cybersecurity at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Lauren Weymouth, Ripple’s Senior Director of University Partnerships, highlights Ripple’s mission to support technological growth through philanthropy and research. Weymouth points out the power of collaboration between universities and businesses to put finance on the roadmap to the future where blockchain technology lights the way.
The influx of capital leads Morgan’s FinTech Center team to discover transformative technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, with Morgan University being in such a position of financial innovations.
